Not quite. The Zentralbahn railway line, which connects Lucerne and Interlaken, runs between the house and the lake. Trains run regularly, and the station is just a one-minute walk away.

There is a small public grassy area by the lake with direct access to the water: swimming, paddling, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding – there are plenty of sports to enjoy.

The guest house has 3 free parking spaces by the entrance and 2 further spaces in the underground car park opposite. Spaces in the underground car park cost CHF 10.00 per day per space.

Check-in is from 4 pm to 7 pm. If you wish to arrive outside these times, please arrange the check-in procedure with the host.

Check-out is between 7 am and 11 am.

In the event of an early arrival or late departure, it is possible, with the hostess’s agreement, to check into the room or house earlier or check out later.

If you arrive outside of check-in hours, the house/room key can be left in the locker by the front door. Guests will be given a code to open the locker.

• The house has 6 rooms, of which

  • 3 rooms with 2 beds (90 x 200 cm) / Double bed: two twin beds, each 90 × 200 cm (35.4" × 78.7"), placed together.

  • 3 rooms with 1 bed (140 x 200 cm) / European double bed: 140 × 200 cm (55.1" × 78.7").

The house is ideal for individual guests and groups of up to 9 people. It can accommodate a maximum of 12 people.

No, Verena’s Boutique Villa is a large family home. The six bedrooms share two fully equipped bathrooms and two separate toilets.

Instead of a minibar in the room, there is a snack corner in the basement offering a selection of soft drinks, beer, wine, spirits, snacks and souvenirs.

The rooms at Verena’s Boutique Villa do not have a balcony. The terrace and the gazebo are available for all guests to use.

Children are welcome, but there is neither a playroom nor a playground. There is no high chair in the dining room. A travel cot can be provided on request for an additional charge of CHF 20.00 per stay.

Young children must be closely supervised to ensure they do not soil the high-quality facilities.

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed.

Unfortunately, the house is not suitable for people with reduced mobility. The house is spread over four floors; there is no lift in the building and no Braille signage.

All pillows are encased in hygienic protective covers and are therefore well suited for people with asthma or those allergic to down.

The duvets are filled with down.

Yes, there is free Wi-Fi available at my guesthouse. You will be given the login details when you arrive.

People who enjoy the finer things in life will feel right at home here.

Whether it’s a seminar, workshop, retreat, meeting or studio session, small groups of between 6 and a maximum of 12 people feel well looked after by Verena and are pampered by her.

Walkers, pilgrims, cyclists and mountain bikers, and those just passing through – everyone is very welcome. And Verena’s hospitality is almost legendary!

Yes, there are various restaurants in Sachseln that are just a few minutes’ walk away.

For groups of 6 or more, a 3-course set menu can be ordered by prior arrangement with the hostess. The surcharge per person is CHF 50.00; drinks are charged separately.

Yes, you can book the house exclusively and use the kitchen and washing machine. The hostess will clear the kitchen of any food and personal items. Guests are asked to treat the kitchenware with care and to leave the kitchen clean.

• Right next to Verena’s Boutique Villa is the Gasthaus Bahnhof, which serves hearty Swiss cuisine. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays; cash payments only.
• A 3-minute walk away is the Gasthaus Engel, which has been awarded 14 Gault-Millau points. Excellent, upmarket cuisine and attentive service. Closed on Sundays and Mondays.
• A five-minute walk away is the Hotel Kreuz, home to the Mister Monkey Restaurant: Soulfood Kitchen, serving steakhouse dishes, BBQ, burgers and pizza. Colourful, with American and international influences.
• Just outside the village (a 5-minute drive away) is the Hotel Zollhaus, which boasts a lovely garden terrace and offers fine dining specialising in fish dishes.
• Nearby attractions include the Älggialp (the geographical centre of Switzerland), a paradise for day trips and walks.
• A trip to Mount Pilatus, the Titlis or the Rigi.
• The Zentralbahn railway line, which connects Lucerne and Interlaken, runs between the house and the lake. The station is a 1-minute walk away.
• The PostBus also departs from the station, providing services to Flüeli-Ranft or Sar
• The MS Seestern jetty is also just a 1-minute walk from the house, making it easy to enjoy a leisurely cruise on Lake Sarnen aboard the MS Seestern.

The breakfast buffet offers a good selection of different bread rolls, jams, cheese, cold meats and cereals. Please let us know when you make your booking if you have any special dietary requirements. The hostess will be happy to provide the appropriate food.

There is a Denner supermarket, a florist’s, a chemist’s, a bakery and patisserie with an adjoining café-restaurant, as well as various small shops.

In the next town, Sarnen, there is a lovely pedestrianised area with shops and places to stop for a bite to eat.

Verena's Guesthouse does not have a spa area. Swimming and other sports are available in Lake Sarnen.

There is a large garden with a arbour, but no swimming pool. Lake Sarnen is just a few steps away from the house and is ideal for swimming or other sporting activities.

Payment is due on departure. Accepted methods of payment include cash in Swiss francs, debit and credit cards (American Express, Maestro, Mastercard, PostFinance, VISA, Discover, JCB, UnionPay) and Twint, as well as vouchers. 

For larger events, an advance payment or security deposit may be required.

To avoid any inconvenience, I recommend taking out travel cancellation insurance. Please note the following regarding room cancellations: Cancellations must be submitted in writing. Unless otherwise agreed, no cancellation fees will be charged up to 3 days before the start of your stay. From 2 days before the start of your stay, 100 per cent of the booked package will be charged if a replacement guest cannot be found. The same rule applies to late arrivals or early departures.

Yes, there’s an electric charging point on Bahnhofplatz where you can charge your electric car.

For e-bikes, you can charge the battery in your room or park the bike in the underground car park and plug it in.
